Each of the updates will fit on a standard floppy disk so you can take them to your boat's computer when it is not connected to the Internet.

If you want to update a computer that is connected to the Internet, the easiest way is to use the Check for Updates... command on Coastal Explorer's Help menu. The program will guide you through the update selection, download, and installation process.

To install an update from this page:

  1. Insert a blank floppy disk into your computer's floppy drive (you can also use a USB Flash Memory Drive or other portable storage device).
  2. Choose the update you want, click its title, and select the Save option
  3. You will then see a Save As dialog box; click on My Computer from the list of place on the left side of the dialog box and double-click on the Floppy (A:) (or other portable storage device) icon in the list on the right and click Save.
  4. Now take the floppy disk to the other computer and insert it into the drive
  5. Start Coastal Explorer and select the Check for Updates... command on the Help menu; Coastal Explorer will guide you through the rest of the process.
